SUMMARY OF REGULATIONS

The following regulations are for the purpose of protecting the best interests of past, present and future plot owners and for the purpose of making the cemetery more beautiful. All plots fall under the following regulations and all plots are sold subject to these regulations. Every effort has been make to carry out the intents and wishes of all who have contributed to the Grace Church Cemetery. Careful attention has been given to the minutes of all available Board meetings in forming these guidelines.

The word “plot” shall, for purposes herein, mean the amount of land needed to bury the remains of one individual. All plots shall be under ‘perpetual care’, said term meaning the care and maintenance of cutting grass on all plots, maintaining drives and walks, and other care as the Board may direct.

The Board respectfully requests the cooperation of all plot owners for the betterment of the cemetery to the glory of God, and the memory of those past.

1. No plot shall be used for any purpose except the burial of the remains of an individual. Only the remains of the owners of interment rights or immediate and descendant relatives of the owners may be interred.

2. All interments must be made in an outer receptacle (vault, concrete box, urn, etc.) of a construction approved by the Board.

3. There can be no more than one interment in any one plot; however, a maximum of four cremated remains are allowed per cemetery plot.

4. Removal or transfer of remains may not be made without the written consent of the Board.

5. No transfer or sale of any plot shall be made without the prior written approval of the Board. Rights of interment not exercised within fifty years by the owner shall be returned to the Board.

6. All charges for interments and erection of markers* shall be the responsibility of the lot owner.

7. ‘Perpetual care’ does not include care and maintenance of markers*.

8. Markers* are subject to inspection by the Board before erection. Mausoleums are not permitted.

9. The care and maintenance of all types of markers* are the full responsibility of the owners. If, for any reason, the owners allow any marker* to become unsafe, the Board will notify the family or heirs for repair or removal. The Board further reserves the right to repair or remove any such item at the family’s expense.

10. All markers* shall be installed with a turf level, frost-proof cement border, or flange, extending at least four inches wide and not less than six inches deep in the ground, so as to prevent the roots of grass and other vegetation from growing against the stone.

11. The Board reserves the right to prohibit the erection of any marker* that, in its judgment, may be deemed inappropriate in material, design or workmanship.

12. All plots are required to have permanent markers* erected/installed within six months of interment.

13. Enclosures of plots with copings or railings, shrubbery or ditches, will not be permitted.

14. Shrubs and trees may be planted only with the written approval and under the direction of the Board. The Board may control the appearance of said greenery; removal of greenery is at the Board’s discretion.

15. Natural flowers and potted plants are strongly encouraged. Artificial plants and flowers are discouraged from April 1st to November 15th. Breakable containers are not permitted within cemetery grounds. Containers of value will be placed for collection. If not collected within thirty days, they will be disposed of. The Board assumes no responsibility for such items, regardless of value.

16. Funerals and ceremonies held in the Cemetery will be under the direction of the Board.

* All types of markers include, but are not limited to: monuments, headstones, foot stones, cornerstones, and memorials.
