This monthly distribution of boxes of bread, meat, canned and dry food and produce began serving about 50 families each month with a surge in demand during the holidays of up to 175 families. Members provided bushels of produce from their own gardens. Each week, designated members pick up the leftover baked goods donated by Whole Foods. Fresh produce is also donated by the Louisa Food Bank.
A great team of Grace volunteers working together made this year's Thanksgiving Food Closet go very smoothly--distributing 200 turkeys and an additional 8 boxes to our neighbors on November 19th. What a blessing to have so many hands helping- picking up vegetables in Louisa, bread from Whole Foods, turkeys from Giant; guiding traffic on Rt. 231 and on grounds; packing bags, working in the kitchen, distributing tickets, turkeys, boxes and bags of food; and then cleaning up! Thank you for making the (rainy) day such a joy for everyone involved.
