Generous Giving, Lasting Impact

When you give to Grace Church, you support our ministries, serve our local community, and help pass down the message of faith to future generations. Beyond weekly offerings, there are several creative, tax-efficient ways you can support our mission.

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)

If you are 70½ or older, you can make a gift directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to the church.

  • The Benefit: A QCD counts toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) if you are required to take one, and the transferred amount is excluded from your taxable income.

  • How it Works: Contact your IRA custodian and request a direct distribution to Grace Episcopal Church.

For more information, contact Grace Church at 434-293-3549, or email financeadmin@gracekeswick.org

How to Make an IRA Gift in 3 Steps

Contact Your IRA Custodian.  Reach out to your financial institution (e.g., Fidelity, Schwab, Vanguard) and request an IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution transfer form.

Provide Our Official Details.  Provide your custodian with the following details for the distribution check:

Legal Name: Grace Episcopal Church, Walker's Parish
Federal Tax ID / EIN: 54-0525304
Mailing Address: P.O. Box 43, Keswick, VA 22947
Memo Line: Please include your
Full Name and intended designation (e.g., "John Smith - General Fund" or "John Smith - Building Fund").

⚠️ Important: To qualify as a QCD, the check must be made payable directly to the church. If the distribution check is made out to you personally, it will count as taxable income.

Let Us Know.  Custodian checks often arrive in the mail without complete donor information.  Please drop a quick note to our finance team at financeadmin@gracekeswick.org or call 434-293-3549 to let us know a check is on the way so we can properly acknowledge your gift!

Gifts of Stock & Appreciated Securities

Donating appreciated stocks, mutual funds, or bonds directly to Grace Episcopal Church is one of the most tax-smart ways to give.

  • The Benefit: You can avoid capital gains taxes on the appreciated value while still receiving a charitable deduction for the full market value of the asset.

  • How it Works: Instruct your broker to transfer the shares directly to our brokerage account. (Contact our office for account details and transfer instructions.)

Legacy & Estate Planning (Planned Giving)

Leave a lasting legacy by including Grace Episcopal Church in your long-term financial or estate plans. Your gift ensures our ministry continues to thrive for years to come.

  • Bequests in a Will or Living Trust: Specify a percentage of your estate, a specific dollar amount, or the residual balance to go to the church.

  • Beneficiary Designations: Name Grace Episcopal Church as a beneficiary on a life insurance policy, bank account (POD/TOD), or retirement plan.

A Quick Note: We recommend consulting your financial advisor or tax professional to determine the best giving strategy for your personal situation.

Give Through Your Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)

  • The Benefit: A Donor-Advised Fund provides an immediate tax deduction when you contribute to the fund, allowing you to recommend grant distributions to Grace Episcopal Church at any time. It's an easy, centralized way to manage your charitable giving, allowing you to support ministry needs or special projects as God puts them on your heart.

  • How It Works:

    1. Log in to your DAF sponsor's portal (e.g., Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, Vanguard Charitable, or a community foundation).

    2. Request a grant distribution payable to Grace Episcopal Church.

    3. Enter our legal name and Tax ID (EIN) number: 54-0525304.

    4. Designate if your gift is for general operating support or a specific ministry program.

For more information, contact Grace Church at 434-293-3549, or email financeadmin@gracekeswick.org

Gifts of Real Estate & Property

  • The Benefit: Donating real estate (residential homes, commercial properties, farmland, or vacant land) or valuable tangible property (such as artwork or collectibles) allows you to turn non-liquid assets into a significant blessing for our church family. You can generally avoid capital gains tax on the property’s appreciated value and claim a fair-market-value tax deduction, often converting a property that requires ongoing maintenance costs into meaningful ministry impact.

  • How It Works:

    1. Contact our church finance office to discuss the property you are considering gifting.

    2. The church team will review the gift in accordance with our acceptance policies (often requiring an independent appraisal and environmental evaluation for real estate).

    3. Once approved, ownership is transferred directly to the church, and our team handles the rest.
