Weddings at Grace

Christian weddings

Requirements:

  • At least one person in the couple is a baptized Christian.

  • Weddings are not conducted during Advent (December), Lent (prior to Easter), major feast days (i.e. Christmas or Easter), October, Sundays, or when our clergy are not available.

  • If either partner has been divorced, the clergy are required to make application to the Bishop of Virginia for permission to proceed with the marriage.

  • A complete marriage application must precede the intended date of the wedding by at least six months. One year is recommended, especially if a remarriage is involved.

Civil weddings

Requirements:

  • The ceremony may not take place inside the church building

  • Complete and submit an application for use

  • Smoking is not permitted on church grounds or in the Parish Hall.

  • Use of alcoholic beverages is limited to beer, wine, or champagne and if planned to be served must be indicated as such on the application. Liquor is prohibited. If alcohol is served, a non-alcoholic beverage must be available in an equally attractive and identifiable manner.

  • No fees for the wedding itself are involved; however, a donation to Grace Church would be appreciated. A refundable, security deposit is required. Sexton fees may be applicable, dependent upon the requested use, as described in the application.
