With Her Hands: Women’s Fiber Art From Gapuwiyak / The Louise Hamby Gift. Curated by women of color, containing artwork made by women of color, this exhibition of fiber art focusses on work from a small community in Northern Australia called Gapuwiyak. The exhibit contains a variety of fiber works including baskets, dilly bags, mats, sculptures and necklaces. These beautiful objects have been collected and given to the museum by American anthropologist Louise Hamby, who has undertaken field work and research with artists of Gapuwiyak for more than 30 years.
Ngayulu Nguraku Ninti | The Country I Know / Barbara Moore & Sharon Adamson This exhibition is comprised of large, colorful paintings by Anmatyerre artist Barbara Moore and three smaller works by emerging artist Sharon Adamson. The paintings represent the artists’ traditional homelands and are a rich and colorful expression of their relationship to it.
